You Have the Right to Feel Alive

We overthink too much before revealing our true personalities. I am of the opinion that no person is truly serious. They appear so because they want to project a certain image to people. They are afraid to appear vulnerable in front of others. Vulnerability is being absolutely honest with someone. And we all worry about displaying our softer side, our honest side.

But the best moments happen when we let loose. When we shed our inhibitions and enjoy the moment in a way that truly reflects who we are. Every personality has two sides: the one we show and the one we are. Even a serious person has a fun side. They might not know how to reveal it, but they always have it. A person who never dances is usually the one who knows he cannot dance. It doesn't mean he doesn't want to. He simply chooses the path of least embarrassment.

We all do this across various areas of life. We think too much before cracking a joke. We think too much before revealing our passionate side to someone. We think too much before telling someone we admire what we actually think of them. All because we don't want to embarrass ourselves. All our inhibitions originate from this fear.

Try to recall the best moments of your life. They will most likely include times when you let go of every inhibition. You remember them because those were the moments you felt most alive. You felt closer to who you are. That is the crux of life. You need to prioritise moments that bring you closer to yourself.

It isn't just about having fun. It's about prioritising relationships, tasks, projects, and people who don't embarrass you. People with whom you feel closer to yourself, where you don't have to overthink what you aren't good at. Life happens in all those moments. That is the whole point of living.

Stop focusing energy on people around whom you must keep your guard up. It's a sign that either the relationship is young and still developing, or you are in the wrong company. If it's the former, don't hesitate to express yourself, no matter how dramatic it may sound. Reveal yourself in layers, but reveal you must. The other person will either love you for who you are or walk away. Either way, you will have saved your time.

Eliminate every task and every person who doesn't make you feel alive. In return, you too must give others the space you crave from them. Everybody has the right to feel closer to who they are. Nobody should be ashamed of expressing themselves. You have the right to dislike someone's personality, but you have no right to stop them from expressing it.

The whole point of life is to experience it through living. Every day. Every moment.
