Traditional method gives traditional results

If you haven’t made it by your mid-30s, chances are you won’t ever. The status quo won’t change much. Being successful, making money, and starting a family all have a time limit. This time limit comes from years and decades of observations. We can fight it all we want, but it doesn’t change.

So, if you aren’t wealthy by your mid-30s, chances are you won’t be very wealthy by the time you die.

This wisdom would have lasted longer had we not invented the internet and social media. The internet has shifted the goalposts and shattered traditional barriers. It comes with incredible leverage, enabling you to spearhead your career from any point.

But if you are still following traditional methods, you will get traditional results because leverage is a modern phenomenon. It doesn’t exist in any methods of the past. Building something that reaps rewards for years to come is a modern construct. Traditional systems reward you based on the time you spend. The risk-to-reward ratio has always been 1:1 in these methods.

That’s why jobs don’t work. They ask for 180 hours a month and give you money based on every 180 hours you spend. There is no leverage. The modern way of making money means you spend 180 hours on a project; if it works, you don’t have to invest more hours in the project.

The old ways have to die. Bury them. Mourn them. And move on to embrace the world of leverage.
