The Trap of Constant Scheming
Some people are perpetually preoccupied with getting the most out of every situation. Their minds are constantly devising new schemes: manipulating people, exaggerating their own achievements while undermining those of others, twisting narratives in their favour by any means necessary, and cultivating relationships purely for strategic advantage.
To them, everything is a means to an end. No person is truly important, and no value is sacred. There is no depth to which they wouldn't stoop to get what they want. One might assume that once they achieve their objectives, they would finally stop. But they never do. Their priorities simply shift from one pursuit to another, keeping them trapped in an endless cycle of scheming.
It becomes tiresome after a while. A scheming mind is perpetually suspicious of others. It projects its own intentions onto everyone else, accusing people of precisely the things it would do in their place. Such individuals often believe the world is inherently ruthless, failing to realise that much of their perception stems from their own behaviour rather than the world itself.
Those who habitually manipulate others inevitably begin to suspect that everyone else is doing the same. They cannot imagine relationships built on anything other than self-interest. Whether it is an argument or a negotiation, they feel compelled to come out on top. And they are willing to go to extraordinary lengths to ensure that they do.
Such a mind is perpetually exhausted by its own incessant thinking. It spends an inordinate amount of time contemplating things that scarcely deserve its attention. Eventually, it becomes lonely, having no one it can genuinely trust. Having manipulated those around them, such individuals gradually forfeit the trust of others. In time, this isolation can drive them towards behaviours and pursuits they would have been better off avoiding.
Focus on strategic thinking rather than devising ways to manipulate people into giving you what you want. Avoid excessive gossip and resist the temptation to plot against others. Remain committed to your goals and concentrate on developing strategies to achieve them. The world is not a zero-sum game. There are ample opportunities for people to succeed without undermining one another. Learn to recognise and pursue those opportunities instead.
