Fuck the World, Go After the People
Most people are turning out to be absolute machines. They are fed just one program and one purpose for that program: to win the entire world. To keep chasing things. To win every race, no matter the cost they have to pay.
When you are wired to think in only one direction—that you have to get that promotion, win that deal, buy that latest car, or own that house—you naturally eliminate a lot of good things from your life without even realising it. Nothing can be achieved without eliminating something else in return. There are no free lunches in the world.
When you start thinking in one dimension, wired by that one program with a machine-like tendency, every person becomes a step to climb on; every conversation becomes information for you to decide whether to use or discard. The feelings don’t matter; only the outcome does. The person doesn’t matter; only their function does.
There is no problem with that attitude. After all, everybody wants something out of life. Everybody has that bus to catch, that race to win. But you also have to accept that people are going to see through these tendencies sooner or later. And when that happens, it will break their hearts. You will keep winning in life and losing people from it.
By the time you realise that you have conquered the world but there is no one at your party to celebrate it with, it will be too late. You cannot get them back. Mistakes can be forgiven, but when you make someone feel like a staircase—something to be climbed, treasured, and discarded based on your requirements—it breaks their heart. And hurt people can’t always forgive.
What’s even worse is that you may never be able to change. You would have lived your entire life chasing. You never taught yourself how to live a life in which you cherish the people around you. From that point onward, you will have endless conflict in your mind, coupled with loneliness.
You won’t even have the company of nostalgia, because you never built those connections to feel nostalgic about. That, my dear reader, is perhaps the loneliest and most broken a person can ever become.
Fuck the world. Go after the people. Treasure them while there’s still time. Everything else can wait.
